(Chengdu, Sichuan Province—May 13, 2021) During the evening of May 8, Minister Wu Wudao’s wife, with several Brothers, Sisters, and children from Early Rain Covenant Church (ERCC), waited at the Damian Police station for officers to release Minister Wu from custody. Without freeing Minister Wu, however, officers closed the gate, and refused to allow his wife and other visitors to leave.
While waiting at the Damian Police Station, one child recited Proverbs 11:1 – 3 aloud:
The Lord detests dishonest scales
but accurate weights find favor with him.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight,
but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.

Brother Dai Zhichao of ERCC, author of the prayer message in ChinaAid's post, "Updated Intercessory Prayer Message," recounts one positive part of his recent visit to Damian Police Station.
As soon as I entered the office area, I breathed a prayer of thanks. From the office where police had taken me, I saw Evangelist Wu Wuqing sitting in the first room with two police officers guarding him. “Wuqing, Jesus loves you,” I said.Brother Wuqing immediately called back to me, "God loves you.”
Damian Police Department officials have appeared to think their frequent summons and harassments will stop Minister Wu from serving his church. The most likely reason for summoning him again on May 8 relates to authorities' practice of preventing him from attending Sunday worship services.
At the time of this report, Damian Police Department officials have not released any news regarding a time scheduled for Minister Wu’s release. Nor have they advised when Brothers, Sisters, and children from ERCC, who sang hymns in their station, may be permitted to return home.

Updated Intercessory Prayer Message from Early Rain Covenant Church
###
Therefore we also,
since we are surrounded
by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which so easily ensnares us,
and let us run with endurance
the race that is set before us,
looking unto Jesus,
the author and finisher of our faith,
who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross, despising the shame,
and has sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God.
~ Hebrews 12:1-3 (NKJV)
