Billionaire: "Nobody Cares" about the Uyghur Genocide
Billionaire and Golden State Warriors (NBA) minority owner Chamath Palihapitiya told co-hosts on his 'All-In Podcast' that "nobody cares about the Uyghurs."
From NPR's reporting "Nobody cares about what's happening to the Uyghurs, okay. You bring it up because you really care, and I think it's nice that you really care, the rest of us don't care," said Palihapitiya, who is also on the board of Virgin Galactic. "I'm just telling you a very hard, ugly truth. Of all the things I care about, yes, it's below my line."
As you may know, ChinaAid has done extensive work exposing the truth about concentration camps in Western China where Uyghurs and other minorities are held.
In February 2021, ChinaAid welcomed Gulzira Auelkhan and her family to the United States where they were granted humanitarian parole. Gulzira was detained for 16 months in multiple camps across Xinjiang and endured horrendous torture. Gulzira also shared her story with ABC News in 2021.
ChinaAid also helped a persecuted Uyghur Christian family safely seek asylum in a Western European nation in October 2021.
Reporting from ChinaAid covered how the Uyghur Tribunal, a quasi-judicial body, found the Chinese government guilty of crimes against humanity, torture, and genocide against Uyghurs and minorities in Xinjiang. In February 2021, the Canadian government passed a non-binding resolution deeming the CCP's treatment of Uyghurs as genocide. The French parliament also passed a motion condemning the Uyghur genocide in January 2022.
ChinaAid also posted an op-ed about Chamath's comments - read the article here!
Please keep all those who face torture and abuse in the CCP's concentration camps across Xinjiang in your prayers
Human Rights Activist Guo Feixiong Charged With Subverting State Power
Last week, you may remember ChinaAid reported the wife of human rights leader Guo Feixiong, Zhang Qing, passed away from cancer in Maryland. Chinese public security agents told Guo's sister that Guo was forbidden to travel to America to bury his wife and comfort their two survived children.
Earlier this week, CCP officials formally arrested Guo on the charge of 'inciting subversion of state power' and notified his sister of the arrest.
Bob Fu and Chen Guancheng penned a New Year's 2022 Declaration on China's Human Rights Crisis that demanded the Chinese government to "immediately allow... Mr. Guo Feixiong to travel to the US to comfort their two surviving children."

The farewell ceremony will be held tomorrow, and I hope Yu Wensheng can come back to send his father off on his final journey."
Please keep lawyer Yu and his entire family in your prayers
Chinese Christian Sues CCP Official
Ms. Guo Juan (the wife of Zhang Chenghao) wrote in a public prayer letter that,"One week ago, I sued Mr. Hu, deputy team leader of Lüliang city national security agency. He is in charge of the case of my husband and Pastor An Yankui. Due to the stressful situation, I feel weak and scared. I pray for God’s help. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! (Amos 5:24)."
Mr. Hu was assigned by the Public Security Bureau to handle the case of Pastor An Yankui and Zhang.
Ms. Guo said she sued Mr. Hu for
- Organized a task force illegally and filed the case wrongly;
- The charge against Mr. An and Mr. Zhang was “illegally crossing the national border”, so it was illegal to confiscate their personal possessions;
- Illegally blocked lawyers’ visitations
- Mr. Hu is on suspicion of bending the law for selfish ends and abuse of power
