(Jeju Island, South Korea—April 5, 2022) ChinaAid received another update from Pastor Pan and the Mayflower Church. The sixty congregants recently endured a round of COVID-19 infections, and they have spent their time studying Christian history in China.

Pastor Pan wrote the following:
Many Christians of our church took the “History of Christianity in China” course from True Word Training Center over the past two weeks. We saw God’s amazing protection and grace over Chinese churches.
We were most moved by God’s grace for Rev. Dr. Charles Chao’s family. In 1950, his family left China and went to Japan. Then they came to Westminster Theological Seminary in the U.S. He translated almost 100 Christian books and became the pastor of a Chinese congregation. His son, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Chao, went back to China to train pastors, and co-authored the book “Statements of Faith of Chinese House Churches”. They are all God’s valuable instruments for special purposes. They are enormous blessings for Chinese churches.
We left China as the Chinese Communist Party intensified their persecution of Chinese churches. We have more than thirty children with us. Some of them have received ten years’ worth of Christian education.
We pray: God, please raise up servants among these children, just like you raised up Rev. Dr. Charles Chao and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Chao. Amen!
Many members of our church were infected with COVID-19 in the past three days. Nobody was infected one month ago, but we were not able to escape it this time. Fortunately, those who have had it before will not get it again.
We are not scared. We love each other and help each other. We recovered quickly.
Thank you, God. We live in a free country now. We have access to authentic information and a reliable medical system.
But our family and friends in China are exposed to fake propaganda and brutal control. They are full of fear. We have the responsibility to tell them the truth.
So, we told our family and friends in China: “Fear not! Look, God has mercy on us. Things are getting better!”
“…who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:4 NIV)
Amen!
