Iran (MNN) — Morality police are back on patrol as Iran announces a new campaign enforcing the mandatory hijab. On Sunday, officers patrolled the streets of Tehran in marked vans.

Women reach out to Heart4Iran’s 24/7 call center daily for prayer and counseling. “The stress, the threat, the anxiousness is with every woman inside the country,” Heart4Iran’s Nazanin Baghestani says.

“They cannot go on the streets [because] they are afraid that they will be caught; they are being followed.”

Last year, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in morality police custody, sparking the most significant anti-government protest movement in Iran’s modern history. A severe crackdown largely quelled protests earlier this year, but women continue to ignore the hijab mandate.

One criminal court sentenced a woman to prison last week after tracking her hijab violations using public surveillance cameras. It was the first known instance of security cameras, installed nationwide in April, officially being used in the crackdown on women’s rights.

Pray that women with nowhere else to turn will meet the Prince of Peace.

Soosan called Heart4Iran’s trauma counseling center and the staff prayed with her. She called back later and shared, “Jesus blessed us with so much peace and joy!”

“Pray for wisdom; pray that we will discern what’s going on and that people will open up. Pray that Jesus will meet them individually,” Baghestani requests.

Help the call center continue its vital work here.

“It’s only us (Christians) that can pray for them; they cannot go to the mosque for prayer,” Baghestani says.

“Muslims write a prayer on paper, and you must attach it to yourself. That’s how they pray.”
