Local government plans cross demolition
Dongquao Church in Zhejiang province received a notice on August 3rd that local authorities were planning to forcibly remove the church's cross. Zhejiang province has a large number of Christians and ChinaAid sources have found that 1,500 area churches were affected by cross demolition from 2014-2016. Here's why cross demolition plans keep spreading to other provinces.

Pray for Dongquao Church and their persecutors.

UN experts call for lawyer's release
On August 11th, United Nations (UN) experts called for the end of the arbitrary detention of Lawyer Lu Siwei in Laos. The UN, ChinaAid, and other global actors continue to work on the case. ChinaAid CEO Chad Bullard told the Washington Post how 'Lu’s lawyers were told the case is now a political one and has been escalated to the highest levels of government.' Read the latest about Lawyer Lu's plight in Laos.

Pray for Lawyer Lu, his family, and all involved with his case.

Guo Feixiong sentenced to eight years
Well-known human rights activist Guo Feixiong was sent to prison last month to serve an eight-year sentence. His family was not told about where he is jailed or has received any formal written notice of Guo's imprisonment. Guo was formally arrested just two days after his wife passed away from cancer in January 2022, and was blocked in January 2021 from leaving China to visit his then critically-ill wife. Here's why the CCP has relentlessly pursued Guo.

Pray for Guo, his family and friends, and his persecutors.

New measures to suffocate religious freedom
ChinaAid's media team reported on the announcement of new measures to stifle religious freedom that are set to take effect in September. The stipulations include further restrictions on religious freedom, the limiting of religious activities to 'official' venues, and restrictions on the indoor display of religious symbols. More on how the "content of preaching and sermons should...reflect the core socialist values."

Pray for all Chinese Christians and for the officials behind these measures.
