Nigeria (International Christian Concern) — Around 10 p.m. on June 26, suspected Islamic Fulani extremists attacked the Hwrra village in the Kwall district of Bassa, Plateau state, killing five Christians and injuring another.
Those killed were Jummai Matthew, 67; Bari John, 30; Meshack Matthew, 18; Martha Danladi, 13; and Robert Sunday, 7. Maryamu Sunday was severely injured and received medical attention at a local hospital. The attackers also destroyed three homes. The Christian village has suffered several attacks since 2017.
Community leaders with the Irigwe Development Association (IDA) condemned the attack and called for an end to the carnage.
“The leadership of Irigwe Development Association conveys words of comfort to the immediate families and all Rigwe brethren at home and in the diaspora,” a spokesperson for the IDA, said in a statement.
