As Christians in India face increased opposition, you can stand with them.
The Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) seeks to forcibly unite India under Hinduism despite the country’s great diversity of languages, cultures and religions. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS membership has grown by 20% and its members have grown bolder in persecuting Christians.

Vague policies, such as laws forbidding the conversion of Hindus, have passed in several states in India. These state anti-conversion laws have long been used against pastors, church planters and evangelists.

Hindu-nationalist informants live in nearly every village and report on the activities of Christians, resulting in attacks and arrests. Churches have been demolished, burned and shut down. Worship gatherings have been disrupted. Bibles and other Christian literature have been confiscated and burned.

Despite persecution, our brothers and sisters in Christ still faithfully proclaim the gospel among India’s 1.4 billion people. Pastors who have been imprisoned share the gospel among other prisoners. When Christians are attacked, they often drop charges against their attackers to show forgiveness as witnesses to Christ.

One pastor who was imprisoned for almost 10 months said, “I was praying a lot during my time in prison, and I was able to bring four inmates to Christ.”

You are invited to stand with Christians in India experiencing persecution for their faith. Your gifts and prayers let them know they are not alone and that they are valued members of the global body of Christ.
