Mark 14:38 NIV
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
These were some of the last words of JESUS spoken to His disciples on the night He was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. He wanted Peter, James and John to spend time with Him in prayer, but instead, He found them sleeping at a crucial time in their lives leading to the subsequent arrest of CHRIST on orders of the religious leaders.
We are often confronted by crucial moments of temptation and weakness. What do we do when we go through crucial moments in life? Do we just take time to nap or perhaps sleep hoping that those trying times will pass and not harm us? Thank GOD that whenever we’re weak we have a Savior who stands up for us, prays for us, redeems and rescues us!
We need to remain alert, alive and awake in the SPIRIT of GOD in order for us to receive His strength that makes us gain the upper hand over life’s temptations and troubles!
CHRIST IS THE HIGH PRIEST OF OUR CONFESSION WHO PROMISED NEVER TO LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US!
Prayer:
LORD GOD, make me mindful of my own weaknesses. Help me to understand that although my spirit is indeed willing, my flesh is weak. Keep me alert, alive and awake to all manner of temptation, and make me more sensitive and obedient to Your Spirit’s voice and direction. My desire is to please and honor You daily for your fame and glory, in JESUS’ holy Name.
Amen.
Alive In CHRIST,
