1 John 5:14–15
“And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.”
To ask GOD according to His will does not mean that, before Christians can pray effectively, they need somehow to discover GOD’s secret plans for the future…sometimes called His “hidden will.” Rather, it means they should ask according to what the Bible teaches about GOD’s will for His people…sometimes called GOD’s “revealed will.”
Ephesians 5:17 says, "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the LORD’s will is".
In this verse, Paul is reminding readers that foolishness goes against the will of GOD for their lives and is urging them to know and recognize GOD will.
If Christians are praying in accordance with what pleases the LORD as found in the teaching of holy Scripture, then they are praying according to GOD’s will.
Prayer:
FATHER, in the Name of JESUS, I thank You that You have plans for Me exceedingly, abundantly above what I can even imagine—plans for good that will give me a future and a hope. I praise You and thank You that this is Your will for me! LORD, I know You want to bless me in every way possible, and I desire to fully put my trust in You and relinquish my will for Yours. Right now, I repent and confess that I have been stubborn in holding onto my own ideas and thoughts…
I commit to being completely open to Your correction.
I need Your SPIRIT’s help to make changes in my heart and mind that will pave the way to victory in the area I’m seeking to find it. I will have faith and walk through every door You open. I will sow time or money where You instruct me, I will remove wrong thinking when You reveal it to me, and I will listen to You through prayer and Your Word. I submit my will to Your will and I thank You that Your plans for me are way beyond my own ideas and imaginations. In JESUS’ Name. Amen.
