A CELLPHONE has become a basic need. This is something that we all value nowadays. During our partner's 2 trips in the Eastern Visayas (November 18-29) they met with some people, including pastors, who lost contact with friends and loved ones because they lost their cellphones during the Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Thus, you can provide a new cellular phone with a SIM card that will cost you less than US-$18.00 donation. A dozen Cherry C6 and B8 cellphone units were purchased and given to a dozen pastors on December 7. We hope to provide more cellphone units in the coming weeks to bless more pastors and their families. Yes, you can help provide this very important and urgent need to BLESS a pastor and his family this CHRISTmas.
A CHAINSAW is needed by a village/community not just to clear the roads and communities of fallen trees but to use the logs and fallen coconut trees to erect new houses. You may consider this as your CHRISTmas gift to bless a village/community. Through local donations received, our partners brought 6 of this (Elimax Brand) kind to be distributed to pastoral associations in key areas that will be visited this week in Northern Cebu, Ilo-ilo, Ormoc and Tacloban. These chainsaws will be entrusted to key network pastors in different communities which they can use to bless many families in the construction of houses.

A very personal appeal from the Christians In Crisis ministry:
It is with broken hearts and souls which through weeping behold our brothers and sisters in the Philippines who are suffering from the cataclysmic upheaval of the earth, sea, and skies.
Within the last month, Filipino people were hit with a category 5 super typhoon, Haiyan, with winds reaching 235 miles per hour.
The estimated death totals are upwards of 10,000 now, and over one million have been displaced from their homes, left to pick up the pieces in what many on the ground have deemed, "hellish conditions".
These communities hadn't even begun to recover from those catastrophic effects when they were hit with a 4.2 magnitude earthquake! Meanwhile, a tropical depression has been hovering over the tormented region dropping 3.2 inches of rain within the last 24 hours.
The people of the Philippines need our help, and they need it NOW!
Pastor Wally has alerted all of us to the ongoing suffering of the Filipino peoples as they struggle to piece together new lives out of the ashes and wasteland that once was their homes. We see them, and hear them, and echo the philosophy that espouses that we “see a need and fill a need” if we can.
We who intercede have fallen to our knees on behalf of those Filipinos displaced by the storms of October and November—for we know the power of prayer, and the One who not only hears our prayers but answers them. But we have an opportunity to do more, through the organization of Christians In Crisis, on the behalf of these dear ones whose lives have been shattered.
Christians In Crisis would like to bring a ministry of hope, to a people faced each day with despair. CIC would like to console rather than be consoled, in bringing light into the darkness of cities without electricity. Christians In Crisis is planning to send a small delegation to the Philippines early in 2014—bringing needed funds and supplies to beleaguered churches and church leaders and members. We can all be a part of this sowing of love to displace sadness. We can help to make this trip possible.
The USA and many other countries have started to send humanitarian aid including emergency food supplies, medicines, tarpaulin tents, blankets and personnel to help in the rescue and recovery work.
We are appealing to Believers here in the USA to please pray for the people of the Philippines.

local, pastors, ministers and missionaries who lost their personal belongings and houses.
May the LORD pour out His mercy and compassion, and may HIS followers extend GOD's love and

Super typhoon Haiyan that struck the central Philippines' Visayas group of islands on November 6 and 7
left a trail of tsunami-like destruction and devastation covering huge areas that included major citites, small towns and villages in Leyte, Samar and Palawan. Tacloban city and Ormoc city were hit hard.
The typhoon is estimated to have killed at least 10,000 people in the central Philippines. Most of the deaths appear to have been caused by surging sea water strewn with debris that many said resembled a tsunami, leveling houses and drowning its victims.
Many of the dead were evacuees who took refuge and shelter at a school building. The school was drowned by waves of water from the ocean that reached ten feet high within minutes of the typhoon's landfall. Adults and children were trapped inside many structures that collapsed during the height of the typhoon's rampage.
In one town of Samar alone, at least 300 died, and thousands more are missing and feared to have drowned and died. The extent of damage and lost to lives cannot be known until communications are re-established.
The typhoon was said to be the strongest ever recorded that hit land with strong winds of 150 to 220 MPH. This is similar to a category five hurricane in the USA. It is said to be stronger than hurricane Katrina.

We continue to monitor the situation concerning the survivors and victims of super Typhoon Haiyan that leveled and destroyed several of the Philippines cities, towns and villages along its path on November 8. We are receiving more information about several localities that remained without contact, communication and relief assistance until this past weekend.
In Eastern Samar, news reports revealed that the towns of Hernani, MacArthur, Quinapondan, Giporlos, Balangiga and Lawaan including the small island of Maricani were the first to be struck when the typhoon made its first landfall.
In Western Samar, the towns of Marabut comprising of 24 barangays (villages) and Basey were also leveled to the ground.
It was also reported that even four to five centuries-old church structures built by the Spaniards were not able to withstand the onslaught of the typhoon which carried winds of up to 225 miles per hour and tidal waves as high as 30 to 50 feet.
To date, 3,976 dead bodies have been found. Hundreds and perhaps thousands more are missing...
18,175 were injured and are now receiving treatment at mobile medical centers manned by medical volunteers from the Philippines and from foreign countries led by Israel.
In the midst of all the trauma, initial chaos and feelings of helplessness, hundreds of relief workers and aid from many countries are pouring in bringing hope to millions of Filipinos.
The Philippine government have also sent to the affected areas law enforcement personnel and military men and women to help in the rescue, recovery and rebuilding process.
In Manila, the government started to set up temporary shelters/tents to accommodate the influx of typhoon survivors seeking refuge and escaping the trauma of their horrible experience.
Filipino families who have suffered loss during some of the recent typhoons have also joined hands with their overseas fellow Filipinos in raising funds and collecting relief goods. Even some of the poorest communities started to pack boxes of their meager belongings to send to the victims of the super typhoon. It is very comforting and encouraging to see such an overwhelming response. Glory to GOD!
All those affected by the super storm are asking for more relief goods. What they're getting will last them only a few days, not even a week. They're begging for more food, clean water, clothes, shoes, sandals, and medicines.
In their desperation, they're crying out for more prayers on their behalf.

YES, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, WE HAVE MINISTRY FRIENDS AND CONTACTS WITHIN THE STRICKEN AREAS. WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED NEWS FROM A PASTOR'S DAUGHTER SAYING THAT IN SOME PLACES PEOPLE HAVE RANSACKED GROCERY STORES IN THEIR DESPERATION TO FEED THEMSELVES AND THEIR STARVING FAMILIES IN THEIR STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE.
MANY TOWNS HAVE YET TO RECEIVE AID DUE TO COMMUNICATIONS BREAKDOWN AND LACK OF TRANSPORTATION BY AIR TO DROP SUPPLIES, FOOD AND MEDICINE. PEOPLE ARE CRYING OUT FOR THE BASIC NECESSITIES OF LIFE.
REPORTS ARE SAYING THAT RAMPANT LOOTINGS OF FOOD STORES/GROCERIES AND KILLINGS ARE TAKING PLACE IN SOME PLACES IN THEIR FIGHT TO SURVIVE TRYING TO GET FOOD FROM OTHER SURVIVORS. CHAOS AND DESPERATION ARE ALL OVER THE STRICKEN AREAS.
MY WIFE AND I ARE PLANNING TO GO TO THE PHILIPPINES SOMETIME SOON AFTER WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH FUNDS AND SUPPLIES TO TAKE WITH US TO THE PHILIPPINES.
